Want to break a Guinness World Record at the Guernsey Harbour Carnival?
We welcome you to join us at the St Peter Port seafront on
Friday 19th July 2019 at 5.30 p.m.
Two Guernsey charities, MIND Guernsey and Male Uprising Guernsey (MUG) are collaborating with the Guernsey Round Table to attempt to break the current Guinness World Record for the:
‘Longest Human Chain of People Patting Each Other On the Back’
The current record stands at 824 and we would love to smash this by having 1,000 islanders come along to the Carnival. We can accommodate all ages and wheelchair users.

Giving a few minutes of your time, standing behind each other, patting each other on the back, will send a powerful message of support; showing the Bailiwick of Guernsey stands strongly behind the local Guernsey MIND and MUG charities. Solidarity and strength in numbers will demonstrate that we have the back of friends, family, teammates, work colleagues and neighbours.
How do I participate?
The line will start in the closed-off road from outside Marks & Spencer’s and will stretch to the Weighbridge and back. During the Carnival, and before 5.30 p.m., please collect your numbered wristband from the Stewards at either point; then make your way to the area designated for your number. Stewards will hold numbered placards, e.g. 1-50, 51-60 etc. to facilitate this, and will arrange their 50 participants in a line.
At around 6.15 p.m., with the line in order, there will be a siren to indicate the start and finish of the designated one minute for patting each other on the back. Individual witnesses will verify the attempt.
